Hockey Concentration

The Program

Objectives

Academic Excellence

Students in the Hockey Concentration Program will be required to maintain and improve academic excellence. The teachers will demonstrate a keen interest in the academic progress of their players. All teachers will be discussing the students' performance in school and in the sport. It is the academics and lifelong learning that will translate into continued growth and success for a student. Sports is never an excuse for poor performance in the classroom.

School Team

Our hockey teams are part of the RSEQ. We offer a Cadet (Secondary 3) team. Mostly a development program to refine skills and teach younger players how to compete, improve individually and as a team.

We also have 2 or 3 Juvenile (Secondary 4 & 5) teams. They will challenge all skill levels. Our 8 development team or our A competitive team will focus on team concepts, leadership and commitment. Game time is earned during practices and classroom performance.

Code of Conduct

Prior to final acceptance into the Football Concentration Program, students and parents will be required to sign a contract agreeing to accept the responsibilities, expectations and conduct as outlined in the contract.

If the student does not respect the contract, they will be placed on probation. Parents will be notified in writing by the administration.

If the student does not show improvement in a certain time period during the probation (designed by the administration), then that student will be asked to leave the program. Please note that if the student is removed from the program, their schedule and teachers can be subject to change.

Important note: A student can also be removed from the program without probation depending on the severity of the situation (i.e.: severe insubordinate behaviour or poor academics in multiple core subjects).

Evaluation

The evaluation in our Hockey Concentration is based on the following 3 competencies:

Concentration Fees

In addition to regular school fees, a hockey concentration fee will be charged to cover the additional cost of purchase of possible specialized coaching, workshops, health services, participation in games, transportation, uniform, etc.

All fees are subject to the approval of the Governing Board.
